Description of Business:
Information technology and in particular the Internet has invaded virtually every aspect of business and personal space. It is not unusual nowadays to hear someone say that they cannot stay for two hours without accessing the Internet in some form. Paykiosks Inc. identified this trend and focused on the deployment of Internet terminals that would allow access to the Internet from many, varied and convenient locations. The belief in this model birthed a franchising strategy where you can buy the Paykiosk Internet Terminal, deploy it in a strategic location and then charge per use. Internet access through the Paykiosk can be in either one of two ways: using the actual Paykiosk machine to access the Internet or utilizing the Paykiosk’s WiFi capability to connect using another WiFi-enabled device e.g. a laptop. The WiFi port can handle up to 100 concurrent connections (users). This is a great business idea but whose benefit is under threat from competing technologies such as blackberries, wireless modems and other Internet-enabled gadgets that allow access through a fixed service provider.

Pros:
1. Low initial investment cost.

2. The business idea addresses a relevant and real need.

Cons:
1. High cost of Internet access – Up to USD 0.25 per minute of use.

2. Competition from other mobile technologies e.g. wireless modems, blackberries and other Internet-enabled phones.

(a) Scam - illegal / unethical job or business opportunity designed to trick people out of their money.
Spam - marketing of job or business opportunity, which does not pay out or provides very little value to the job/business seekers.
