With over 1.7 million - yes - MILLION "independent beauty consultants" in over 30 countries around the world, this is one of the most successful direct selling companies ever. Their beauty consultants sell beauty products for men and women ranging from bath and grooming products to make-up and perfume. I have various family and friends who have sold Mary Kay and had varying success. Of the those who have not done well with Mary Kay - 100% of them actually gave up due to the time investment required.
Pros:
1. Good, high quality products with great reputation.
2. Well established support system and administrative processes.
3. This company has a history of rewarding its best consultants very well.
Cons:
1. To make "real" money consultants have to either maintain a very high volume of sales or get a large team of consultants signed up under them.
2. It can be hard to grow your sales with so many existing consultants.
3. Minimal sales requirements can be hard to meet at the beginning of your business.
(a) Scam - illegal / unethical job or business opportunity designed to trick people out of their money.
Spam - marketing of job or business opportunity, which does not pay out or provides very little value to the job/business seekers.
